CLUB NEWSLETTERS
Download a copy of the Hollowshore Newsletter. These are published (probably)
twice a year, and the latest round of them began in Spring 2006.
Note these are large files, so the download may
take a while if you do not have broadband.
The newsletter will be downloaded in PDF format and will automatically open
on your PC if you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. If you haven't, go
here first to install it. It's a very useful (almost vital) piece of software to
have these days anyway, and what's more, it's free.

OTHER NEWS
RELOCATION NEWS UPDATE 5th March 2008
Our lease at the old building has now expired, and work is continuing apace to
prepare our new headquarters in the Youngboats building at the head of Oare
Creek.
The immediate news is that the bar WILL be open on Sundays starting this
coming Sunday, 9th March. Arrangements may be a little primitive for a few weeks
while the work is finished, but at least we're open!
In the meantime, many thanks for everyone's support. If you have volunteered to help,
there's still plenty to do.
If you have any questions please feel free to speak to one of the Committee
members.
AGM 2007
The clubhouse was packed to capacity for the AGM, when momentous discussions
took place to decide the future of the club following the Testers' decision to
give us the heave-ho after nearly 50 years. Here is not the place to relate some
of the comments about the situation made from the floor; suffice to say, the
discussions turned into a very constructive and enthusiastic debate, ending with
a unanimous vote to support the committee's recommendation, namely to go ahead
with preparation for a move 'up the creek' to Youngboats premises. Here, the
club will make a fresh start, in a decent permanent building, with no parking
problems and an enthusiastic landlord.
Somewhat surprisingly, the membership refused to support the committee's
recommendation for a modest £5 increase in subs, and instead proposed and voted
in a £10 increase! There will be a mailing shortly to all members, calling for
subs and asking for help with the building works needed at the new clubhouse.
Following the main business, a few changes in officers and committee were also
voted in - Mike Perkins is now Vice Commodore, Dick Holness is now Rear
Commodore, and Tony Coles and Mike Torode have joined the Committee.
Trophies were awarded as follows, presented by Carolyn:
Jim Gray got the Psyche Trophy (most ports visited) ...............
Lorraine won the Lucent Pot for the best log.........................
Rod Akhurst took away the Hollowshore Cup (most logged miles).
Mike Torode won the Viking Cup (Member of the Year)............
Maurice Sundin won the Ron Lintott Trophy (first Channel crossing as
skipper)..
